IMD Predicts More Rain In Odisha From Tomorrow

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a new forecast on Wednesday for a new round of heavy to very heavy rainfall beginning tomorrow, despite the fact that many districts in Odisha have already submerged owing to flooding.

“A fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over east-central India from the night of 18th August,” the IMD said in a press release.

Also, IMD added, ‘A cyclonic circulation lies over South Myanmar & neighbourhood and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. Under the influence a low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal around 19th August’2022.

As per the weather forecast made by IMD, the weather office has issued rainfall forecast and warnings for the next four days.

Day-1: (Valid up to 0830 Hrs IST of 18.08.22) Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightening very likely to occur at one or two places over the Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack.

Day-2:(Valid  from 0830 Hrs IST of 18.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 19.08.22Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh.

Day-3: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 19.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 20.08.22) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Jajpur.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Nuapada, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri.

Day-4: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 20.08.22 to 0830 Hrs IST of 21.08.22) Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi.
