IMT Rally reaches Thailand, On way to Bangkok

Sukhothai, Dec 2: The India-Myanmar-Thailand friendship motorcar rally 2016 that was flagged off from the India gate at New Delhi on November 13, 2016 by the minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Mansukh L Mandaviya in the presence of Chalit Manityakul, ambassador of Thailand, have finally reached Thailand and are on their way to the Capital.

The rally set off from New Delhi, passed through Myanmar before completing the trip at Thailand. The teams entered the country via Mae Sot Customs Check point in Tak Province on November 29th and further moved onto Sukhothai province where Governor Piti Kaewsalapsi flagged off the rally.

During his visit to India in June Thai PM Gen Prayut Chan-o-Cha approved the India-Myanmar-Thailand Friendship car rally proposed by the Indian government.

The rallies is a tri-Nation car expedition for Mapping Connectivity, Promotion of Trade & Investment, 
Tourism & Sports and, to re- establish Cultural & Historical Linkages.

As earlier we reported the IMT rally would initiate the beginning of the IMT motor vehicle agreement will allow free passage of goods and people along the Borders of the 3 countries. The rally is being organized under the aegis of the Indian Chamber of Commerce Kolkata, Kalinga Motor Sports Club Odisha and the Central Road Transport and Highway Ministry. Travel from India to Thailand by road would now become a reality.
