Bhubaneswar: August 30: India registered single-day spike of 78,761 fresh cases and 948 deaths in last 24 hours. With this, total cases in India increased to 35,42,733 and the total death toll reached 63,498.
As per Health Ministry’s data, in last 24 hours, 64,935 people recovered from the disease, pushing the total number of recovered cases to 27,13,933.
7,65,302 cases are active at present.
The recovery rate now stands at 76.61 per cent and the fatality rate declined further to 1.81 per cent.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state with 7,64,281 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 4,15,590 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 4,14,164 cases, Karnataka with 3,27,076 cases, Uttar Pradesh with 2,19,457 cases, Delhi with 1,71,366 cases, West Bengal with 1,56,766 cases, Bihar with 1,33,003 cases, Telengana with 1,23,090 cases and Assam with 1,03,794 cases.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India achieved a record number of 10,55,027 tests in a single day on Saturday taking the total number of samples tested so far to 4,14,61,636.
