India’s COVID tally crosses 27 Lakh-mark; 55,079 cases in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: August 18: India recorded 55,079 new COVID-19 cases and 876 deaths in last 24 hours. With this, total number of cases in the Country increased to 27,02,742. Also, the death toll rose to 51,797.

According to Health Ministry’s information, 57,937 people recovered from the disease in last 24 hours, pushing the total number of recovered cases to 19,77,779. So, the recovery rate has been improving and it stands at 73.18% now.

The actual case load of the country, viz. the Active Cases stood at 6,73,166 and it is only 24.91% of the total positive cases.

The Case Fatality Rate has further reduced today to 1.92%.

Among States, 8 States have already crossed the one lakh-mark. Maharashtra reported 6,04,358 cases till date, followed by Tamilnadu (3,43,945),Andhra Pradesh (2,96,609), Karnataka (2,33,283), Uttar Pradesh ( 1,58,216), Delhi (1,53,367), West Bengal (1,19,578) and Bihar (1,06,307).
