Jatra Gate Collapses in Cuttack: 6 Injured

Cuttack: A major accident has taken place at Raisunguda in Salipur, Cuttack district as the high iron gate entrance to a jatra party collapsed. Dozens of spectators including men, women, elderly and even young children were injured when the high iron gate to the jatra party suddenly collapsed before the event began.

The injured and the critically injured were evacuated to different medical centers, including Salipur Community Health Center. Of these, six people with serious injuries were referred to Cuttack Medical because of their serious condition.

According to reports, the Raja Rani jatra team was performing at Raisunguda since Friday. The mishap took place before the second show began on Saturday night. The audience strength was massive. As the audience were entering the jatra premises through the high iron gate entrance, the gate collapsed.

It is alleged that the gate collapsed because of the crowd trying to enter simultaneously. Further investigation is underway.
