JE outbreak claims one more girl child in Malkangiri, Odisha; death toll now 105

Malkangiri, Nov 13: The death toll due to the vector-born disease Japanese Encephalitis has raised to 105 in Malkangiri today as it claimed the life of two more children named Nila Madkami belonging to Kataguda area under Padia block and Linga Madkami  of Amarakunda village under Korukonda block, while the two were undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital here.

In the meantime Koraput has also become a victim of this deadly disease. It’s stated that here around 14 kids have succumbed to death till now and as many as 65 children are under treatment. However, Dr Lalit Rath, CDMO of Koraput claimed that out of the 14 children, six have died due to JE while the rest died of other diseases. He further added that three children each in Koraput and Malkangiri have died due to this vector-born disease. Presently, a child belonging to Baipariguda and two other belonging to Padua area are undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital in Koraput.
