Malkangiri, Dec 2: Today morning, the death toll due to the outbreak of the vector-borne disease, Japanese Encephalitis, reached to 121 here with the death of a girl child while she was undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
The girl was a native of Tarakaguda area under Mathili block here and her name is Santoshi Nayak. She was just 2 years old. On the contrary, the district admin has prepared itself to start the vaccination drive from Dec 5.
It’s stated that the dist admin has been able to identify 21,827 kids belonging to the age group of 1-15 age groups for the vaccination drive. The vaccination against Japanese Encephalitis has been planned to start from 8 am to 3 pm daily for two weeks. While the teachers have been given the responsibility of vaccination in the district, the drive will be reviewed by the senior officials of the district administration.
