Bhubaneswar, June 6: For setting up a dumping yard at Daruthenga Panchayat on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, the Khurda District administration (DA) today conducted a public hearing of seven panchayats at the Chandaka Inspection Bungalow of works department.
In past, the locals of the area have protested a lot with agitation and are still continuing their protest demanding the relocation of the dumping yard.
However, after the a lot of protest, the state government has finally decided to relocate the dumping yard from Daruthenga to Tulsadeipur. But the government has also made it clear that the Waste to Energy Treatment Plant will be set up at Daruthenga only.
The locals in the area however are stuck with their words, demanding shifting of the dumping yard along with the wast treatment plant as it polluting the air and the underground water. The locals have also said that the foul smell coming out of the garbage has made their life miserable.
