Bhubaneswar, May 19: The KISS-Bhartia Residential School will be opened at Puri with full support of Bhartia Charitable Trust. The School will be based on the model of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed in this regard here at Bhubaneswar on Wednesday between Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS sighed the MoU on behalf of KISS while Shri Kishanlal Agarwal, Chairman, Bhartia Charitable Trust signed the MoU on behalf of Bharatia Charitable Trust. This type of School is first in India.

“I have been trying to open KISS branches in 15 to 20 districts of Odisha for last one year and have achieved significant success. I had a dream to open a KISS branch in Puri exclusively for the children of poor Brahmin communities. It is now going to be fulfilled due to the support of Bhartia Charitable Trust. I thank Mr. Agarwal with gratitude, who has fulfilled my long time dream”, said Prof. Samanta after signing the MoU.

KISS-Bharatia School will be fully residential like KISS- Bhubaneswar. Children, both boys and girls, of poor Brahmin families will get education with accommodation, fooding and healthcare free of cost. The academic session will begin from July, 2018.

KISS has purchased 15 acre of land at Puri for setting up the School. Bhartia Charitable Trust will provide full financial support for the infrastructure, assured Mr. Agarwal. The students of this school will be taught CBSE curriculum. In the first phase, there will be Class I to Class XII. The Brahmin students will be given special training on Veda, Karmakand and theology, especially on the Jagannath culture. After completing their education from this school, they can establish themselves as well trained and educated priests. There will be provision for 1200 students in the first phase enrolment. It will be expanded later. Children from poor Brahmin families from across the country can pursue education here.

Mr. Ashok Pandey, the President Awardee teacher presided over the MoU singing ceremony, which was attended by members of 200 Marwadi families, intellectuals and officials of KISS, among others.
