Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), the NGO in the Capital has today made Odisha proud after getting listed in the top 223 NGOs in the world.
Been also placed in the top 10 NGOs in India by the World NGOs published by a Geneva based independent media organization, the Advisor who is Unique in its publishing with such ranks, after a detail observation has placed KISS in 223th position among thousands of NGOs in the worldwide.
Earlier KISS being placed in the top 500 NGOs during the last June by the same media, it has jumped quite too many places in the world rankings.
To be noted, KISS, a NGO founded by educationalist and socialist Dr. Achyuta Samanta in 1993, is a institution acclaimed worldwide for its successful structure of tribal empowerment through education. About 25000 children from the socially backward societies and weaker societies pursue education here. It is the world’s largest free residential tribal educational institute. The highest recognition to any NGO by UN is the Special Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which was granted to KISS in 2015. It has also been approved for association with UNDPI.
