Kolkata-Bound Bus Rams Into Truck Near Jaleswar Toll Gate, 2 Killed And Nine Injured
Jaleswar: October 29:
A passenger bus met with an accident late last night in front of Jaleswar New Court on National Highway No. 16 under Jaleswar police station. The bus was going from Nrusinghpur in Dhenkanal to Kolkata.
It is said that there were more than 60 passengers in the bus. Two people died and nine were severely injured when the passenger bus rammed into a stationary truck from behind near the Lakshmannath toll gate in Jaleswar under Balasore district.
Immediately after the crash, Jaleswar Police and fire services rushed to the scene and began a rescue operation, shifting injured passengers to nearest hospitals.
Official reports state nine passengers were seriously injured, with two transferred to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment. Others are receiving care locally.
The bus’s front was completely damaged. The deceased and critically injured were seated in this section.
Jaleswar police have started an investigation. Early findings suggest the dimly lit stretch of highway caused the bus driver to fail to notice the truck in time.
Authorities are verifying the vehicle’s fitness certificate and the driver’s credentials, while the deceased have been sent for post-mortem and families are being notified.
