Landslide Brought Down Large Rocks and Debris, Blocking the road In Odisha’s Gajapati District

Bhubaneswar: October 28:

Due to the impact of Cyclone Montha, a section of a hill collapsed along the Linga–Barabha road under Partoda panchayat in Kashinagar block of Gajapati district on Tuesday. The landslide brought down large rocks and debris, blocking the road and halting vehicular movement.

District authorities promptly began clearing the road to restore connectivity and ensure public safety. Reports say that floodwaters have thoroughly washed away a portion of the road, making it impossible for four-wheelers to pass. Officials have stated they will start repairs once the rainfall stops and the weather stabilises. They expect to complete restoration work in about 48 hours.
Meanwhile, following the closure, the local administration carried out temporary repairs to permit limited movement of smaller vehicles and to maintain partial access for emergency services.
Reports state that the local administration had already deployed Fire Department personnel in sensitive, landslide-prone areas as a precaution. Rescue and disaster response teams remain stationed at vulnerable locations, ready to handle emergencies.
