Looters loot an Elderly Couple today afternoon in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sept 5: Today at noon, in Gandamunda area under Khadagiri police limits, four robbers looted a house here after entering on the pretext of a taking a room in the building on rent. On tying both the house owner and his wife with cello tape and threatening them with sharp weapons, the looters looted all gold ornaments. Shradhanjali Prusty, the wife elaborated the entire incident to the media. She said that two looters had come yesterday to meet them and see the room which they were going to take on rent saying that actually two girls studying Plus II will be staying. But her husband asked them to bring the two girls so that both of them could decide whether to let out the room to them or not. Again at 8pm in the night, one of the miscreant had come and he said that both the fathers of these two girls resides in Balasore and have asked to send a snap of the room to them so that they could decide and make the advance payment immediately. To this she said that the concerned person could come tomorrow and see the room as it was difficult for them to climb up at night. Thus, today at around 1pm the same person came over to the house along with another man introducing him as the father of one of the girls. All of a sudden, the two thronged in and overpowered the lady. They were joined by two others who suddenly appeared. They tied the lady’s mouth with cello tape. In the scuffle the lady tried calling her sister who was in the other room, thus on hearing her, the sister immediately called Prusty’s husband who was in the bedroom. As soon as he came out of his room, the two other miscreants reached his bed and pushed him onto it. Threatening the lady with knives and swords, the looters looted a four gm gold chain and six gm bangles from her possesion. The looters spoke fluent Odia.

Subash Chandra Prusty, the house owner said that he was asleep when his sister in law gave a shout to him saying that someone has attacked his wife. To this as he was getting up from the bed and was about to walk towards the other room, two miscreants reached the bedside and pushed him. They took his gold chain and ring at knife and sword point. On asking for the keys of the almirah, they realized the presence of his sister-in-law, who by that time, had escaped through a backdoor gate. They too took away both their mobile phones. Afraid of getting caught, the miscreants escaped from the spot.

Notably, the looted house was very closely located to the Khandagiri police station.
