Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: The State government on Monday smashed onto the Central Water Government Commission (CWC) and Chhattisgarh government and said that no information had been provided by Chhattisgarh Government regarding the Kelo project and also said that Odisha had not been invited during the approval of the Kelo project.
To clarify this, Aditya Prasad Padhi, State Chief Secretary at a press meet said that the Odisha government has not received any letter from the Chhattisgarh government, whereas according to the media reports, which mentioned that two letters had been received from the chief engineer and the water resources secretary of Chhattisgarh in July and September 2008, but no such letters had been received. He also said that, according to the obtained documents, Odisha was not invited in the meeting of the Central Water Commission (CWC), where Kelo project on Mahanadi got clearance in January 2009. He further said that the information regarding clearance of Kelo Project had also not been given by the CWS that has cleared the project without consulting Odisha, which has the right to be consulted being the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh.
