Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: On September 10, around 10,000 people are likely to attend the Mahanadi Banchao Samavesh (Save Mahanadi conclave) in the capital city.
In order to put pressure on the Chhattisgarh Government and NDA Government at the Centre to stop the construction work of barrages on the upper catchment areas of Mahanadi, the Mahanadi Banchao Abhiyan would be organizing the conference.
As the State Government has failed to deal with the Mahanadi water dispute issue efficiently between the two States, Mahanadi Banchao Abhiyan member and former Minister, Panchanan Kanungo said the Abhiyan is consulting with legal experts in the matter and if needed, then a delegation will meet the President of India to seek his immediate intervention in the matter.
Gouranga Hota, Abhiyan convenor said that politicians, former bureaucrats, lawyers, intellectuals, civil society members and others would attend the Samavesh on September 10.
