Bhubaneswar, Aug 30: Sulabh International Social Service Organisation has offered to pay Rs 5 lakh all at once and Rs 10,000 monthly aid to Dana Majhi of Kalahandi district, who had taken all pains of carrying his spouse’s corpse on his shoulders for about 10 kms as he was not provided with a mortuary van or an ambulance from the hospital.
The Organisation has extended help towards health and education needs of Majhi’s 12-year-old daughter till she gets married or gets a job.
Also, as per the report from the ‘Gulf Digital News’, after the Bahrain Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa read about the man in an article in the ‘Akhbar Al Khaleej’, he decided to do something to help and has donated a sum of money to help Majhi and his family through the Indian embassy there.
Under the various schemes meant for the poor, Dana Majhi has received Rs 32,000 aid from the state government.
