Bhubaneswar, Nov 7: A court in North Odisha Baripada city in Mayurbhanj district has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife.
The District and Sessions Court, Mayurbhanj, sentenced Sadan Singh Gagarai of Jodibil convicting him under section 498 (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 302 (murder) of IPC.
Gagarai (28) killed his wife Sukumani by setting her on fire on April 5, 2011.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on Gagarai.
In case of default in the payment of penalty, the convict would undergo rigorous imprisonment for another six months, the court said.
