Cuttack, Dec 12: After a man died as cops allegedly beat him up severely in custody at the Narasinghpur PS, the SP has ordered a probe into the incident, which will be investigated by a DSP rank official.
Identified as Akul Senapati of Malisahi Village was admitted to the SCB medical after he sustained severe injuries, but later he succumbed to death while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Earlier Akul had a quarrel with a fellow villager over some immaterial matter of crop damage. When the man filed a case against Akul, the police picked him up on Friday. But after an alleged grievous thrashing by the police he suffered severe injuries in his chest and head, said sources.
