Bhubaneswar: March 21: Retired Odisha Information Service (OIS) officer, who was earlier posted as the Technical Director (Information and Public Relations Department) Niranjan Sethi, got arrested for his alleged involvement in the elimination of the Nayagarh cameraman Manas Swain.
Bhadrak Police also arrested Raj alias Ranjan Nayak today for alleged involvement in the murder case.
Police sources said that, though Niranjan was not present during the abduction, he was very much part of the conspiracy that has been hatched to abduct and murder the cameraman.
So far Police arrested 5 persons in connection with the murder of Cameraman Manas Swain.
Sarmistha Rout, the owner of the web channel, is yet to be arrested. She is suspected to have played a key role in the murder case.
Police sources said, Manas was murdered over a dispute regarding some memory chip/card, which is yet to be recovered.
Notably, Manas Swain, had been to Chandbali area in Bhadrak district from Bhubaneswar for shooting of a marriage function. Subsequently, he was abducted and taken to Dayal Ashram in Bhubaneswar Further, he was assaulted and tortured.
On March 12, his body was recovered from Badhipatna hills in Rajsunakhala area of Nayagarh.
