Mega women rally in state capital organized by Odisha govt on Tuesday afternoon

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: On Tuesday the ruling BJD had organized a mega state level women rally, Mahila Samavesh at the exhibition ground here. The event was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik where addressing the gathering he said his government has decided to double the income of the women of the State by doubling the credit limit for the self-help groups (SHGs) from Rs 500 crore to Rs 1000 crore from 2016 itself. This increase would lead to benefit the women groups thus economically strengthening them. This event was organized keeping in view the Biju Patnaik Centenary celebrations in the state. Patnaik further went on to say that it is not possible for a society to grow without the development of women and thus without equal participation of the female section of the society, a state cannot be built. “Mothers’ place in our culture and tradition is high and the sacrifice of a mother is incomparable”, the CM stated. Patnaik on this auspicious event remembered his legendary father’s contributions towards the overall development of women, he stated that all the welfare schemes started in Odisha were the outcome of Biju Babu’s efforts and thoughts. Notably, he said that Biju Babu had fought valiantly for the welfare of women. For their rights and employment Biju Babu had taken many initiatives. He will be remembered for the exemplary steps he had taken for the welfare of the women.
