Bhubaneswar, May 6: Odisha BJD’s ministry reshuffle has quite largely taken the front page of every news paper in the state today. Starting with resignations of senior leaders of the state, Speaker of Legislative assembly, Niranjan Pujari resigned from the office yesterday, submitting his resignation to the Deputy speaker.
Today Food and Consumer Welfare minister, Sanjay Das Burma has tendered his resignation ahead of the BJD ministry’s expansion-cum-reshuffle. The reshuffle is likely to be held tomorrow where around 10 ministers who are in the government are expected to be replaced while some have already been asked to give their resignations today by 4 pm. Other than Burma, Debi Prasad Mishra, Pradip Panigrahi, Lal Bihari Himirika, Jogendra Behera, Snehangini Churia, Sudam Marandi and Puspendra Singhdeo might also face the resignation or replacement procedure. On the other hand, senior leaders, Maheswar Mohanty, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Pratap Jena, and Surya Narayan Patro are stated to be served with the first preference seat of the Cabinet. Several BJD leaders including Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and spokesperson Pratap Deb have started to make beelines to Naveen Nivas today. It is stated that the CM will be trying his best to balance the number between senior leaders and young ones while taking the 2019 general elections into uttermost consideration. After the ministers resign, by tonight the final list of the selected leaders will soon be issued.
