Bhubaneswar: April 11: Based on the complaint filed by a minor athlete’s family members, Commissionerate Police arrested three senior athletes for their alleged involvement in torturing and sexually abusing a minor athlete. The arrested athletes are Suraj Thakur, Jagannath Das and Ashish Patra.
As alleged, all the three accused had tortured and abused sexually to the minor athlete at a hostel of a private university where they were staying for the sports meet. The minor athlete was a class 10 student from Rourkela.

As per the allegation made by the family members of the minor boy at Info city police station, Bhubaneswar, four senior players had shouted on him with slangs for failing to qualify in an event of the state meet, in which the boy had participated. Next day, they had called him to their room and misbehaved. Later, they sexually abused him.
