Bhubaneswar, March 18: Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly Narasingh Mishra Thursday accused the State government of spreading misinformation on models schools across Odisha.
Raising the issue during Question Hour, Mishra said it is unfortunate for the legislators as well as the State Assembly that the meaning of the English text of the opening address of the Governor in the Assembly is opposite to its translated Odia text given to the members even as the reply of the minister implies an altogether different meaning. Citing an instance, Mishra said the governor, in his address, had said that the State government will set up model schools in 314 blocks in Odisha which implies that the government has not set up a single model school till date.
“On the contrary, the translated Odia text containing the speech of the governor, which was given to the members, mentions that model schools have been set up in each block. But the School and Mass Education minister, in his reply on this issue during Question Hour today, said only 74 model schools have come up. From this, it is amply clear that the reply of the concerned minister contradicts the speech of the governor while the meaning of the English and Odia texts of the governor’s address is also diametrically opposite,” he pointed out.
Condemning the incident, Mishra said this is an insult to the House and urged the Speaker to initiate stern action against those responsible for it.
