Modern bus terminal in Sambalpur by August 15

Sambalpur, July 18: The much awaited modern bus terminal in Sambalpur would be operated by August 15. The terminus would be operated on public-private partnership mode.

The modern bus terminus work has been completed. For its operation and maintenance a private firm also has been selected, informed Sudhansu Bhoi, Deputy Commissioner of Sambalpur.

Earlier, the Ainthapali Bus Stand operating on 5.26 acre did not have the basic amenities and so the passengers have been facing inconvenience.

By initiating the programme, the modern bus terminal work responsibility was taken over by the Bhusan Power and Steel Limited, Thelkui. The work started on the land at Ainthapali, after the private bus stand shifted to a new location in January 2014. The cost for this project has been estimated to be round about Rs 13 Crore.

The modern bus stand will be geared up with parking facilities for both buses and auto rickshaws, multipurpose booking counter, administrative building, kiosks, food court, solar light system etc. For the parking of buses, 6,412.20 square meter area out of 21,375 square meter area have been reserved, and for auto rickshaws and taxis it is 1,099.31 square meter. All the private buses, city buses and OSRTC buses will operate from the new bus terminus.
