Bhubaneswar, Apr 1: A unique musical “jugalbandi” took place yesterday on the eve of Utkal Divas which won the hearts of the people where the Odia classical songs were appreciated by the connoisseurs of classical music performed by the students of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay with a touching note by a well known vocalist from Varanasi Anoop Misra.
Anoop Misra the eminent classical singer from Banaras started with the offering to lord Jagannath, he also shared that he is fortunate enough to travel from the land of tridev to the land of Jagannath. The famous Hindustani vocalist who along with his son Aryan Misra on stage stated that they were lucky to perform in the city of temples.While introducing the Raag Sataswati Anoop Misra said that it is basically a raag from southern India but many north Indian musician had created various compositions from unique Raaga and do have a lot of fan followers.
The singer allowed his son Aryan to start the concert with the song “sanj bhaye sab guni jana gabe”.After that he sang “Jagat janani maata…tuhi maata”.
The evening before the great day the authorities of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority decided to to celebrate it with soulful Odissi songs as the Odissi music is traditionally related with the cult of lord Jagannath.It is also considered as the Raag based music and also has got all musical at par with different classical musical forms.
The Odissi recital was performed by the students of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay accompanied by the well known musicians with traditional instruments like Guru Sachhidananda Das on Mardala, Guru Binod Bihari Rout on Tabla, Guru Jwahar Mishra on flute, Guru Murlidhar Swain on Manjira and Sandhyarani Bhyuan on Tanpura.
