NALCO to showcase Indian Performing Arts in Iran

Public Sector undertaking NALCO has plans to showcase Indian performing arts in Iran before it starts business there.

Nalco CMD TK Chands says that cultural bonding will precede the aluminium major’s business in Iran.

“Cultural bonding will precede our business in Iran. We would like to play the Cultural Ambassador by showcasing Odissi and other Indian performing arts in Tehran first,” Chand said at function recently.

He said, “Cultural exchanges are a precursor of goodwill and mutual understanding, paving the way for any industrial joint venture.”

He announced that NALCO shall also institute King Kharvel Awards to felicitate an Odissi Guru and an Odissi dancer on the Foundation Day of the aluminium major every year.

The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash respectively along with gold medals and citations, he said.
