Bhubaneswar, Apr 16: Honouring the family members of freedom fighters (A rebellion against the British rule in the state in 1817) at the Raj Bhavan, today, PM Modi said, Odisha played a key role in the freedom struggle of the country. He (Narendra Modi) felicitated the kin of 16 freedom fighters from Odisha namely Buxi Jagabandhu, Laxman Nayak, Chakhi Khuntia, Madhav Chandra Routray, Krutibas Patsani, Raghu Dibakar, Nirmal Mumnda, Veer Surendra Sai and others, who had fought the first mutiny against the British rule in India.
Talking on the occasion, Modi said, I am utterly proud today to the meet the family members and remember the sacrifices of the martyrs in the historical freedom struggle.
