KOLKATA, SEPT 19: Sweeping aside a year of controversy, Odia sprinter Dutee Chand proved her supremacy in the track again by winning her third gold medal in the 55th National Open Athletic Championship in Kolkata on Saturday.
19-year-old Dutee who had earlier won gold in 100m individual event, clinched gold in 200m race on the last day of the championship. She clocked 23:67 second to edge past her state mate Srabani Nanda, who got silver with the timing of 23:75 second in the event. Asha Roy (Railway) won bronze medal in the event.
Dutee, teaming up with Himashree Roy, Merlene Joseph and Srabani Nanda won gold in 4×100 m Relay race for Railways with the timing of 45:92 second.
Another Odia athlete Jauna Murmu, who represents ONGC, won gold in 4×400 m Relay.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated Dutee and Srabani for their brilliant success in the Championship, and wished that they would continue the winning spree and bring laurels for the State.
