Naveen Patnaik inaugurates ‘Kartika Brata’ Programme for Habisialis from Lok Seva Bhawan

Bhubaneswar: October 15: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched ‘Habisialis Kartika Brata’ Programme yesterday through video conferencing from the Lok Seva Bhawan here.

The Programme is meant for Habisialis (Widow Devotees who observe Kartika Brata at Sri Jagannath Temple during the Month of Kartika).

Government has made arrangements in Puri to accomodate 1500 habisialies at Habisiali Kendra near Narendra Kona, 900 Habisialis at the Railway Tourist Complex and Six Hundred in the Municipality Kalyan Mandap.

Three buses have been deployed to carry Habisialis from the Railway Tourist Centre to the Jagannath temple and vice versa.

As per the data, 2577 Habisialis have registered themselves for the ‘Habisiali Brata’ Programme and 2183 have already accommodated themselves at different centres.

Around 500 government officials have been deployed to take care of the Habisialis besides 120 volunteers of ‘Youth for better Puri’ and 60 members from Red Cross.

This Programme was started in the year 2016. Since then, Government has been arranging accommodation of Habisialis besides serving of Mahaparasad, fruits on the day of ekadasi and organising pala, daskathia and prabachan in the evening.
