Nayagarh, Oct 23: Tension gripped Nayagarh district headquarters hospital (DHH) on Saturday night after a patient identified as Jayanti Nayak of Khalamada of Dasapalla area died while undergoing treatment at the DHH due to alleged medical negligence.
As per sources, Nayak died at the DHH while undergoing treatment for sickle cell disease. After Nayak’s death, his brother Jitu Parida and his associates, allegedly ransacked the hospital and thrashed a doctor Prabhakar Sahoo and some other hospital staff, holding them responsible for Nayak’s death due to medical negligence.
On receiving the information, police reached the spot and detained the persons responsible for ransacking. An investigation has been initiated by the police and Health department into the matter.
