The Supreme Court has finally given its verdict on Friday on the controversy regarding reservation in NEET UG, PG Counselling.

The Supreme Court of India said it has upheld the constitutional validity of the 27 per cent reservation for OBC in NEET UG and PG.

For EWS category, 10 per cent reservation will apply this year and the prospective ruling will be decided on a final hearing on March 3, 2022.

The court has asked to start counseling for UG and PG courses immediately.

The matter was heard by a special bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna.

The Bench allowed Rs 8 lakh to be considered as the income criteria for identification of EWS category students in this year’s counseling.

A hearing has been kept in the third week of March to identify the EWS reservation and who will fall in the EWS category. The final decision regarding admission will rest with the Supreme Court.
