Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: The State Government has decided to add more beneficiaries to its scheme and so 25 lakh new women have been added under the Mamata Yojana which facilitates monetary assistance to pregnant and lactating women in rural areas.
As per the scheme the enlisted beneficiaries will get financial assistance of Rs 5000. As per the source, a total of Rs 1,100 crore has been transferred electronically to the beneficiaries’ accounts. Patnaik, while addressing a meeting at the Jaydev Bhawan, informed that the scheme has being helpful to create self-dependent and empowered mothers as well as ensuring health of these mothers.
For the success of the programme, Patnaik thanked Asha workers, Anganwadi workers and mothers. Besides that, to promote the programme, a one-time incentive of Rs 1,000 for the Anganwadi workers and assistants and Rs 500 for the Asha workers were also announced by the Chief Minister which in return will benefit 70,000 Anganwadi workers, 60,000 Anganwadi assistants and 48,000 Asha workers, sources added. In the meeting, Patnaik also inaugurated the Mamata software which would in its first phase transfer Rs 3,000 at the sixth month of pregnancy and in the second phase, Rs 2,000 at the tenth month of pregnancy to the pregnant women.
The Mamta Scheme, was launched in October 2011 by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and became the largest Direct Benefit Transfer programme in the country.
