Cops arrests 2 BJP and 2 BJD activists for alleged involvement in group clash on Bandh day in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Today the Twin City Commissionerate police arrested two activists BJP and BJD each for having an alleged involvement in the group clash during the Bhubaneswar bandh. These four had been taken into custody based on a CCTV and media footage of the clash.

Notably, on December 21 the whole of the city was blooming with the protest clash between the activists of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and BJP. It all started at Ram Mandir square and continued at Master Canteen. The two opposing parties went on to the streets to protest against each other. Seeing the situation getting intense, police commissioner YB Khurania and DCP Satyabrat Bhoi immediately arrived at the areas and tried to normalize the heavy situations. Inspite of heavy deployment of police and security forces, protests, burning of tyres and vehicles damage were seen at all major locations of the city such as Mausima Chhak, Sishu Bhawan Chhak, CRPF Junction, Kalinga Studio Chhak and Vani Vihar Chhak, thus causing inconvenience to common people. The activists started picketing at many places and blocked roads. It’s stated that a BJP activist was allegedly thrashed by BJD workers and in protests the BJP activists set a two-wheeler on fire besides barging into KFC restaurant near Ram Mandir Chhak.  The police stated that it would examine the CCTV footage of the alleged ransacking of public properties and also of all incidents and action will be taken accordingly.
