Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: The Empowered Committee on Infrastructure (ECI) has given a green signal to the proposal to construct six new hospitals and houses for the economic backward classes. This proposal had been approved during a meeting held on Tuesday by ECI officials, chaired by AP Padhi, Chief Secretary. As per officials sources, under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode the work will be carried out. The new hospitals will come up having 800 seats out of which, for the Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders around 359 beds will be earmarked. Apart from this, for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category people around 1300 low budget houses are to be created. The meeting also permitted to build 23 rice storage godowns and have a town bus facility in Balasore.
