Bhubaneswar, Sep 25: Wishes poured in for the duo representing their school and Odisha at the News Wiz contest aired on India Today Television. The quiz show is being hosted by Rajdeep Sardesai. Sai International School’s Suswet Sukumar Patra and Chinmay Mohanty became the first finalists of the news quiz show leaving behind Delhi’s Tagore International School and Puducherry-based St Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The first finalists scored a perfect 400 points while Tagore International and St Patrick’s could only manage to score 250 points at the end of the first round of News Cluster. However, it was a tough battle between the teams and headed for a nail-biting finish. Sai International School maintained a lead till the final round.
In the second round of Top Story, Sai International maintained its lead with 500 points, Tagore International moved to second place with 400 points and St Patrick finished the round with 300 points.
In the third round of Match Time, the leaders maintained their position with 850 points. While St Patrick moved to the second spot with 800 points, Tagore International slipped to the spot with 650 points.
In the fourth round of News Buzz, Tagore International team answered one question and lost another keeping the scores unchanged at 650. Sai International and St Patrick were going neck and neck with 950 and 900 scores.
The competition boiled down to the last question where Sail International team hit the buzzer and got it right. The duo emerged as the winner of the first semi-final with 1050 points.
