Bhubaneswar: October 19: Amiya Patnaik is no more. The noted Producer/Director, who had given a new shape to the Odiya Films’ breathed his last a private hospital in Delhi at around 8:30 am today. He was admitted to the hospital because of illness.
Amiya Patnaik has produced films like ‘Hakim Babu’ (1985), ‘Pua Mora Kala Thakura’ (1988), ‘Raja Rani’ (1989), Asuchi Mo Kalia Suna (1989), ‘Paradeshi Babu’ (1999) and Babu I Love You’ (2005).
He made his production and directorial debut with the film ‘Mamata Mage Mula’ (1985).
His last film was ‘Tulasi Apa’, which he has directed in 2015.The movie received multiple awards internationally.
Many well-made theatre Productions go to his credit. In 1978 he was adjudged the Best director in the Lok Natak Mahostav. He shot into fame with the production of the play ‘Byabhichara’ in 1981.
The entire film industry is shocked hearing the news with condolences pouring in from different quarters following the demise of Patnaik.
He was 63. He is survived by wife Seema Patnaik and son Anupam Patnaik.
His mortal remains will be brought to his residence in Bhubaneswar tonight and his last rites will be performed at Swarga Dwara in Puri tomorrow, revealed his family sources.
