Berhampur, April 21: Danda Maharana, an associate of arrested former MLA Ramesh Jena, sustained bullet injuries in a police encounter at Tamana ghati under K. Nuagaon police limits in the district this morning.
Berhampur Police intercepted Moharana and his associate while he was passing through Tamana Ghati. Police Sources said, Maharana fired first on Police and further Police retaliated, which cause injuries to notorious criminal Maharana on his leg.
Two Police officials also sustained injuries on this Gun battle. More than 40 cases are pending against him in different Police Stations of Ganjam District. Maharana was initially admitted to the Berhampur hospital but was later shifted to Cuttack.
