State Government has suspended Ashwani Panda, an OAS topper of the 2019 batch and Bamra Tehsildar of Sambalpur district, who was arrested for taking bribe. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department issued an order in this regard on Monday.
Ashwani Panda was arrested by the Vigilance on the 12th September and has been suspended since then. During the suspension period, the Sambalpur District Magistrate’s office will be his headquarters.
Ashwani Panda was caught by the Vigilance team while taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person through driver Praveen Kumar for mutation and variety conversion of a land. Driver Praveen Kumar has also been arrested.
After being caught taking bribe, the Vigilance searched Mr. Panda’s house. At that time, the Vigilance found Rs 4.7 lakh in cash.
