Bhubaneswar: April 19: In the interest of lakhs of kendu leaf pluckers, state government has decided to increase the collection price of Kendu Leaf.
According to the decision, the cost of kendu leaf collection has been increased in both the process area and the fall area for the 2022 crop year.
With this, Rs.240 crores will be added to the income of 7.50 lakh poor kendu leaf pluckers in the state.
Most of them are tribal women.
Besides, the state government has also sanctioned Rs. 120 crore for bonuses and various other allowances. It will benefit to more than 8 lakhs Kendu leaf pluckers, binders and other seasonal staff.
It is to be noted that the state government is investing all the trade surplus amount earned from kendu leaf trading for the welfare of the kendu leaf pluckers, binders and seasonal staff.
