Odisha Assembly adjourned thrice as Opp creates ruckus over Paddy MSP & Hike in Power tariffs issue

Bhubaneswar, Mar 24: Today as assumed opposition party members created a ruckus in the Assembly thus wanting an increase in the MSP for paddy and also protested against the hike in current tariffs. Thus, the Speaker had to adjourn the house thrice during the pre-lunch session.

As per sources in today’s session, the Business Advisory Committee of the House will be finalizing a date on which discussions would be held on the Paddy MSP issue. Notices regarding this was earlier given by the Leader of Opposition, Narasingha Mishra and Agriculture Minister Pradip Maharathy. The Notice read that Mishra proposed to increase the Paddy MSP to Rs 2,800/quintal but Maharathy wanted to raise it to Rs 2,500/quintal. After the final proposal will be passed in the House, it will be sent to the Centre for its approval.

Other issues which the opposition is likely to raise in the House today slamming the state government are likely to be the Puri Swargdwar land case and also the issue about illegal government land encroachment here.
