Odisha Capital soon to have Memorial Pillar for Martyrs

Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: A 29 feet high memorial pillar for martyrs will soon be built here. This was informed by Bhartuhari Mahatab, MP Cuttack when he was attending the All India Freedom Fighter Mahotsav on Monday.

Debi Prasad Mishra, Industries minister inaugurated the event. The event was held on the occasion of 31st death anniversary of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab, the late Chief Minister of Odisha. The construction work of this 29 feet high statue will end by 2018 and in all Rs 30 lakh will be spent, Mahatab said. The meeting was presided by Bhabani Charan Patnaik, president of Odisha Freedom Fighters Samiti.

The names of freedom fighters like Buxi Jagabandu, Jayi Rajguru, and Pandiki Bahubalendra will be encrypted on the pillar. Besides that, names of Laxman Naik, Madho Singh, Dibakar Parida and Raghunath Mohanty will also be inscribed on the pillar, informed Birupakshya Tripathy, Secretary of All India Freedom fighters Youth wing, Odisha.
