Bhubaneswar: April 30: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today met Election Commission at Delhi and suggested to post-pone the Poll of Patkura to a later date. Citing strong reasons behind his argument, Odisha CM has handed over a memorandum to the Election Commission and said, “The Election to 96-Patkura Assembly Constituency in Kendrapara District is fixed for 19th of May. The projected cyclone path is crossing Kendrapara district and landfall is expected to be Rajnagar Block of the district. Odisha’s acknowledged disaster management strategy is completely based on community involvement. Evaluation, disaster preparedness, relief and restoration are all community based and at this point of time to have politically supercharged atmosphere will cause serious dislocation in the preparedness.’

Naveen said, ‘In this context, it is strongly suggested to post-pone the poll to a later date sothat community can work together in harmony and administration can focus on saving precious lives and valuable property’.
