Odisha CM expresses deep concern in Assembly winter session over Stole Removal incident in state capital

Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: Today over the stole incident happened during the BJD rally the Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik expressed deep concern in the Assembly. He further added that along with the order of investigating the matter, the security personnel have also been given strict orders to not to repeat such action in future. He stated that on being aware of the incident, he immediately gave a call to the Home secretary and DGP and gave them strict warnings against such conduct which denigrates human dignity and warned against repetition. The DGP has been asked to conduct an inquiry in to the matter and take appropriate action on the defaulting security personnel and hence, Inspector General of Police, western range, Rourkela is already into the incident. Patnaik further assured that fact that his government is committed to preserve women’s dignity.

Notably, On Sunday, the police had removed all black stoles and shawls from women who had come to attend Patnaik’s meeting in Sundergarh on ‘security reasons.’ Meanwhile, a woman from Cuttack filed a PIL in Orissa High Court making the Home Secretary, DGP, Sundergarh Collector and SP party responsible in the stole removal case.
