Odisha CM Launches Distribution of Livelihood Assistance of Rs. 1,000
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday launched the distribution of livelihood assistance of Rs 1,000 to each beneficiaries covered under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
Beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act or State Food Security Scheme, shall also get this assistance in the absence of BSKY Card.
About 96 lakh families in the state will receive the assistance. The state government will spend Rs. 960 crore from its own funds for this. The Chief Minister has directed the officials that, the assistance be provided to all the beneficiaries within seven days.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said, the welfare of the poor is the most important program of the state government. The first and second waves of Covid created a challenge for us. The poor have suffered a lot. Covid’s influence has not yet been over. So, the livelihood assistance has been announced to help the poor people.
Odisha has successfully dealt with the first and second waves of Covid, with the help of the people, said Chief Minister. Now a new variant Omicron has come up. So, he urged the people to be vigilant and to also follow Covid appropriate behaviour such as wearing masks, social distancing and hand sanitisation. He also advised not to visit outdoors unless it is necessary.
