Odisha CM reviews Works Dept’s activities in state capital today

Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: Taking into consideration the heavy traffic between Raj Bhawan Square to Nandankanan Square here, today the Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik gave directions to the Works department to conduct a survey for an elevated corridor and a parallel alternative road for this particular route via Infocity, Niladri Vihar and Sailashree Vihar and submit a report as soon as possible. This was informed to media by Works secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan. The department was also directed to gear up the construction work of Sohela-Ambapani section road and also complete construction of Rourkela-Sambalpur section of Biju Expressway by Mar 2017. The fact that came to the fore during the meeting was that construction of Gurupriya Bridge and four medical colleges will be completed by June 2017. Construction of a bridge over Mahanadi at Nelson Mandela in Sambalpur and another bridge over Ib River in Jharsuguda will also finished by June 2017. A bridge over Kathjodi River in Cuttack will be completed by February 2017.

It was also revealed that the construction of 44 wayside amenities at various places beside National Highway is in progress. The Works secretary also informed at the meeting that 62 percent of the total budget allocation for 2016-17 fiscal by November this year has been spent and the remaining budget allocation would be spent by Mar 2017. Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary to chief minister and Development Commissioner were present at the meeting.
