Odisha CM suspended Engineer-in-Chief on corruption charges:

Bhubaneswar: May 04: Chief Minister of Odisha today suspended Engineer-in-Chief (EIC) of Works Department Sukdev Meher on charges of corruption and accumulation of disproportionate property to his known sources of income, an official release informed.

Vigilance had conducted raids on Meher’s house at Baramunda-Siripur road, office at Nirman Soudha, a market complex and a two-storey house in Balangir and his ancestral house in Nuapada in December last year.

As per the raid, Meher had acquired movable and immovable assets worth Rs 2.84 crore during his incumbency as a public servant.

He had deposited in banks worth Rs 92.79 lakh, cash of Rs 51,000, vehicles and household articles worth Rs 7.3 lakh, a flat in the Capital city worth Rs 30 lakh and houses at Baramunda and Balangir and the market complex valued together at Rs 1.28 crore.
