New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: August 15: A strong Odisha contingent participated in the 71th Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the Red Fort (Lal Quila), Delhi on 15th August, 2017. State wise representation during the Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony at Lal Quila is first of its kind. Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner, New Delhi coordinated the participation in the Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony with Delhi/ NCR based Odia Socio-Cultural organisations. About 50 members of three Socio-Cultural Organisations (Intellect, Odia Mahamanch, Utkalini) took part in the ceremony and were present in a designated enclosure at the Red Fort.
Members of the contingent presented themselves in traditional odia attire. Some of the young participants’ attire reminded us of great personalities of Odisha including freedom fighters, which made every odia to take pride. Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner made all the arrangements for the Odisha contingent for enabling their participation in Independence Day Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the Red Fort.
