Bhubaneswar, Sept 1: With the ratification of the Constitution Amendment Bill for Goods and Services Tax (GST), Odisha has turned out to be the 16th state to ratify the Constitution Amendment Bill.
During the special session of the State Assembly on Thursday, the resolution has been ratified unanimously, moved by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Before adjuring today’s special assembly, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Speaker Niranjan Pujari thanked the members.
After this ratification, it has made ways easier to get the President’s assent. It needed to be ratified by at least 16 state assembles out of 31.
Before this, the bill was first passed by Assam on August 12. Then it got clearance by other states like Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Haryana, Mizoram, Sikkim and Nagaland.
