Odisha eves beat Jharkhand in U-19 Women Cricket Tournament


BHUBANESWAR, SEPT 24: Riding on the all-round performance of skipper Sushree Dibyadarshini, who scored 39 runs and scalped one wicket, Odisha women beat Jharkhand by two wickets in the Inter State U-19 Women’s Zonal League (EZ) at Dhanbad on Friday.
This win fetched Odisha four points.
Winning the toss, Odisha put Jharkhand in to bat and restricted them to 134 in 43.5 overs. Sarojini Giri chipped in with three wickets while Anjali Singh scalped two wickets. Indrani Chhatria, D Janaki Reddy and Dibyadarshini claimed one wicket each.
For Jharkhand, Rasmi was the top scorer with 30 runs which included three hits to the boundary. Ruma Kumari and Roshni scored 20 and 18 respectively.
Chasing 135 for victory, Odisha, despite early set back when the team struggled at 5 for 27, overhauled the target in the 49th over losing eight wickets, thanks to the captain’s knock by Sushree and a disciplined and patient knock by Sumitra Sahoo (28 off 62 balls). Indrani Chhatria contributed an unbeaten 23 while opener Sasmita Mahalik scored 22.
Brief Score: Jharkhand 134/10 in 43.5 overs (Rasmi 30; Sarojini Giri 3/23, Anjali Singh 2/8) lost to Odisha 138/8 in 49 overs (Sushree Dibyadarshini 39; Sumitra Sahoo 28, Indrani Chhatria 23 n.o;) by 2 wickets.
