Vaccination Drive: 1.4 Crore First Dose & 54 Lakh Second Dose Administered

Bhubaneswar, August 31: The ongoing Vaccination drive will be completed by the end of December, 2021, Family Welfare Director Vijay Panigrahi has said. “If the supply of Vaccine will be stable, we are expecting to complete the drive within the next 6 month.

According to source, till date, 2.2 crore doses have been administered in the state. Out of this 1 crore 66 lakh have taken their first dose, while 53 lakh second doses have also been administered. With this nearly 54% people in the state have been administered with the first dose, confirms government sources. Currently, 28.54 Lakh Covishield doses and 4.54 Lakh covaxin doses are available with the state. Priority is being given to those on the verge of taking the second dose vaccines. The government has ordered the districts to vaccinate teachers and those on the verge of taking the second dose, on a priority basis across the state. The government has also set up special centres to vaccinate teachers across the state. As of today, vaccination drive is underway in 1400 centres across the state, said sources. Till date, 1 lakh pregnant women have also been vaccinated.

Notably, no details are available on the new variant C 1.2. It has not yet been identified in India. It is said to break the vaccine and infect it. It is also said to be more contagious by destroying antibodies. But that variant has not yet been identified in our country, said sources.
